![]() Each evening at about 9:00 we gather at the front of the sanctuary for a service of vespers. As part of the service we share our impressions of the day--the good and the frustrating. Again we were broken into two groups, and both reported on the progress that we made. Yvonne, Janice, Connie and Wanda were back at the Little Ferry school staining deck boxes. They finished the entire project. At vespers they told how everyone who went by commented on how great the place looks, and thanked them for their help. Bob, Rick, Cory, Charlie and Bill continued working at the trailer. The roof was nearly complete--necessary because of the storms that were predicted to come through Wednesday evening. But the main focus was on the floor. During the course of the day, the front room (kitchen) was nearly completed. Concerns about the strength of the walls required shoring up from underneath, slowing progress a bit. But again other residents of the mobile home as they passed by commented on how great Gary's place was looking. It was a tiring day. We ate at Mama Rosa's Italian Restaurant two blocks down from the church, and at one point we noticed how quiet we all were because we were so tired from the day. But as they say, it was "a good tired"--the product of a hard day's work. So when we gathered for worship, it was with thankfulness that we were able to share our gifts with those who had lost so much during Superstorm Sandy. |
